Forney High Girls Soccer Team claims the 13-5A title of District Champs. This win clinched the top spot for Forney with two games left to play.
Savannah Gunn threw a perfect game on Tuesday to lead North Forney Lady Falcons Varsity past Lancaster 20-0. Gunn struck out Faith Shavers to end the game.
The Varsity and JV girls’ track teams both competed in the Clay Jones Memorial Relays on Thursday, March 5, at City Bank Stadium. On the Varsity team junior Bracie Vaughn captured 3 gold medals in the 100m hurdles, the 100m dash, and the 200m dash. Senior MaKinley Tipton placed second in the high jump, and sophomore Rylie Tipton took home the bronze in the long jump. Numerous personal records were set on Thursday. It was definitely a great day to be a Jackrabbit!
We had been waiting for more than a month for this day to come, and then snow and ice and cold threatened to maybe cause us to cancel our plans to use the tickets Waylon and Family had gifted to us for the Mavericks game. But then “Pete” (weatherman) proclaimed that the ice would be mild, and the cold not freezing at game time, and the worst would wait until early the next morning.
“Themer, it’s Basketball Alumni Day at Commerce on February 1. You and I and the Girls will catch both games and then go out to eat at Lone Star.”
As a “young guy,” my three favorite NBA basketball players were Wilt Chamberlain, “Dr. J” Julius Erving, Brad Davis—my favorite college players were Charlie Beasley and Alicia Rattay.
