IT’S DEER SEASON!

With the opener of the general deer season last weekend in North Texas, many of us have been making last minute preparations for upcoming hunts. On many ranches managed by Texas Parks and Wildlife (TPWD), deer hunting began in early October and hunters were allowed to use all legal sporting arms to harvest deer but for the majority of us across most of Texas, November 6 is the official opener of what we old timers used to call ‘gun season’.

Delta Kappa Gamma’s Kaufman County Chapter, Alpha Tau, uses this year’s theme (Journey—which way will you go?) when planning for the year. They also socialized at the beginning, using a back-toschool theme meal and mimicking students eating in the cafeteria with sack lunches. During this meeting, members were recognized for their years of service—Jerri Coates for 20 years and Nancy Shaw for 30 years.
