The Kaufman County Commissioners’ Court recently appointed Paul F. Ayres as Fire Marshal after a months-long search. Ayres is an experienced public safety professional who has been involved in over 360 fire/explosion investigations, including 28 fatal incidents (involving 42 separate fatalities).

District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley announced the conviction of Brayden Clay Sisk, 22, for Driving While Intoxicated. On January 25, 2022, following a two-day trial before the Honorable Judge Bobby Rich in the County Court at Law No. 2 of Kaufman County, a jury found Sisk guilty after five minutes of deliberation.

It’s published by Rolling Stone Magazine. The aforementioned make up their interpretation of the 5 best, though the list far exceeds these names. In fact, when Rolling Stone does a list, they do it up big. There are 95 other noted musicians. Some are given. Who among us could successfully argue Hendrix from the #1 spot? And, while Whipping Post may be Duane Allman’s magnum opus, I would argue his most masterful work is the song Jessica, simply because it makes me want to roll the top down and apply a generous layer of Bonne Bell strawberry “lipsmacker” gloss without benefit of lyrics at all. But, today, we find ourselves smack dab in the month of February, noted for championing black history. I’d like to take that a step further into Texas black history. If we’re rolling the top down, actually, we may as well drive on out to Centerville, TX. We may as well run the red lights of the Rolling Stone list all the way toward the end. That’s where we’ll find Lightnin’ Hopkins, the 71st best guitarist of all time.

Crandall High School’s Jared Miller was named principal of Anna High School at an Anna ISD school board meeting Thursday night. Anna Trustees unanimously voted on Miller to lead the 4A high school, located in Collin County.
Kymberlin Sanders a member of Forney FFA caught a calf during the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s Calf Scramble January 14, earning a $500 purchase certificate for a show heifer and the chance for up to $16,000 in scholarship awards. Sanders’s parents are Kris and John Bomer of Forney. Sanders’s award was sponsored by El Coyote Ranch - Encino, TX.

Grilling lends itself well to many different foods. The smoky, flame-licked flavor of foods prepared on the grill is hard to replicate by other means of cooking. Many people turn to grilling each night, especially when the weather is warm and pleasant. Fish is one food that can sometimes cause grilling-related anxiety. The tender, flaky nature of fish makes it seem like a poor fit for the grill, simply because it can fall through the slats. Yet grilling fish is easier than one may think when they utilize these methods of cooking.
