Friday, January 8, 2021, the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant in the 11000 block of Walnut Lane, in Forney. Investigators have been looking into reported drug trafficking at the residence and eventually sought a search warrant.

I bet most of you that have spent a lifetime in the outdoors can recall some ‘close calls’, times in the woods or on the water that cause you to shudder when reminiscing about the past events. I certainly can! One would think that most of these events were caused by wild animals, ie. cougars, bear, wild boar. Some were but some of the scariest things that happened to me had nothing to do with critters with fangs and claws.

The Texas attorney general’s office is attempting to fight off efforts by four former aides to take depositions and issue subpoenas in their lawsuit claiming they were illegally fired after telling authorities they believed Attorney General Ken Paxton was breaking the law.
There is help in store for east Texans with jobs affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, or looking to change professions, thanks to a grant TVCC received from the THECB. The reskilling grant will allow TVCC to provide financial assistance to students, who are Texas residents, to cover tuition and fees.
With the loss of jobs in the community due to the pandemic, the City of Mesquite stepped forward last year to help the public gain employment opportunities, skills training and hope through a series of public outreach efforts.
