North Texas Giving Day 2022

Early Giving is now open for the Annual North Texas Giving Day! Held annually, NTX Giving Day falls on September 22 this year as a way for North Texans to give to their favorite charities and nonprofits, all of whom are local and give to our friends, neighbors, and community members. The website for this great event asks North Texans to “Find Your Passion. Give With Purpose,” and links to hundreds of worthy organizations.

Church Leader Sentenced to LIFE for Continuous Sexual Assault of Child Under 14

District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley announced September 2nd the conviction of Stanley Gerald Champ of Scurry, Texas of the offense of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14 which is a 1st degree felony. On September 1, 2022, following a fourday jury trial before the Honorable Casey Blair in the 86th District Court of Kaufman County, a jury found Champ guilty and sentenced him to LIFE.

Mesquite Celebrates Opening of Newly Reconstructed Town East Blvd

The City of Mesquite and Dallas County officials celebrated the reopening of a reconstructed portion of Town East Blvd. Both organizations participated in upgrading the strength of the pavement of Town East Blvd from Forney Road to Skyline Drive to withstand the high volume of heavy traffic the roadway receives. In response to public input, the roadway was also reduced from six to four lanes with the lanes moved away from the residential area to provide a buffer area that includes a hike and bike trail and new screening wall, which extended the trail system to Westover Park.
